Football: Nana's not quite ready for Yeovil Town

IT would appear that time has run out for Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi in his attempts to earn himself a contract with Yeovil Town.

Right-back Nana has been at Huish Park for the majority of the pre-season having been released from League Two outfit NorthamptonTown.Football: Nana's not quite ready for Yeovil Town

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson, himself an ex-Northampton manager, gave Nana a chance to impress – but it looks as if he will not be featuring for the Glovers in the new season.

Nana started last night’s friendly with Premier League outfit Swansea City, but was taken off after just 29 minutes.

Only moments before Nana had been shoved off the ball by Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey and it led to Michu giving the visitors a 27th minute lead.

It would seem to be the end of the Yeovil road for Nana, who started his career with Chelsea and has been an England international from Under-16 to Under-21 level.

The player is still really recuperating from long-term injury and Johnson last night said he needs more time.

Nana suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament damaging cartilages which needed knee reconstruction surgery and has not played a competitive game since September 2011.

And Johnson, who also had Nana as a player at Peterborough United as well as Northampton, said that he felt sorry for the player who had been sidelined by injury for 18 months.

“He’s not quite ready for this level just yet,” said Johnson.
