Football: Size really isn't that important!

Football: SIze really isn't that important - small is beautiful!

YEOVIL Town have always enjoyed being labelled the underdogs and the 2013-14 season in The Championship will see that description come to the fore.

Although Yeovil are quite justified to be taking their place in The Championship alongside some of the game’s most famous names because they have earned that right; they will be the underdogs when it comes to their resources in comparison to their rivals.Football: SIze really isn't that important - small is beautiful!

They will no doubt have the smallest squad of any of the 24 clubs in the division; they will without question have the smallest budget; and they will have the ground with the smallest capacity.

Yeovil’s Huish Park stadium (pictured) boasts a capacity of just 9,565 – that is a whopping 30,247 less than Hillsborough, home of Sheffield Wednesday, who have the highest capacity in The Championship with 39,812.

Glovers’ fans just need to look at the capacity attendances below and see that there are ten other clubs – Leeds United, Middlesbrough, Derby County, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town – with full houses of 30,000-plus.

It is quite a mouth-watering prospect, albeit a somewhat terrifying one as well.

But one thing Yeovil Town fans have got to start shouting from the hilltops is quite straightforward: Size isn’t important, it’s what you do with what you’ve got which is important!

Crowd sizes: Sheffield Wednesday 39,812; Leeds United 39,460; Middlesbrough 34,988; Derby County 33,597; Leicester City 32,262; Blackburn Rovers 31,154; Birmingham City 31,079; Brighton & Hove Albion 30,750; Nottingham Forest 30,576; Ipswich Town 30,311; Bolton Wanderers 28,100; Charlton Athletic 27,111; Wigan Athletic 25,133; Huddersfield Town 24,500; Reading 24,224; Barnsley 23,009; Burnley 22,546; Millwall 20,146; Queens Park Rangers 18,360; Watford 17,477; Blackpool 17,338; Doncaster Rovers 15,231; Bournemouth 10,700; Yeovil Town 9,565.
