THERE were no surprises today at Huish Park at which player was the mainstay recipient of the Yeovil Town end-of-season awards – leading striker Paddy Madden.Football: Paddy Madden is the overall winner of Yeovil Town awards

The Irishman has been the star of the npower League One this season with 23 goals, all scored bar one while with Yeovil; firstly on loan from Carlisle United and then as a permanent signing with the Glovers.

He took top honours with the Green and White Supporters’ Club, the Western Gazette, Cary Glovers, the Away Travel Club and the Disabled Supporters’ Association, while he obviously won the Andy Stone Memorial Trophy for leading scorer.

Goalkeeper Marek Stech, who was man-of-the-match in today’s 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra, was runner-up in the G&WSC and the DSA awards, while he won the award from the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust.

Two other players got in on the awards show. Centre-half Dan Burn won the Bobby Hamilton Young Player Award presented by Audrey Hamilton and members of her family, while captain Jamie McAllister received the runners-up award from the Away Travel Club.

But it was Paddy Madden’s day and nobody can really argue with what has been a fantastic season for him.
