Football: Massive ten days coming up for Yeovil Town

YEOVIL Town can certainly be looking at pushing on for an automatic promotion spot from the npower League One following yesterday’s results.

While the Glovers were overcoming the tricky opposition of ShrewsburyTown 2-1 at Huish Park to move third in the table, a number of their promotion rivals suffered setbacks.

Brentford were held to a 1-1 draw at Coventry City, while Tranmere Rovers went down 1-0 at leaders and title favourites Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United were locked 1-1 at home by Walsall.

Bournemouth maintained second spot with a 3-1 success over Notts County.

Things could change again on Tuesday night when Swindon Town, who were without a game yesterday and slipped to sixth in the table, are away at MK Dons, while Sheffield United are back in action at home to Crawley.

Doncaster could take another step towards securing promotion if they defeat Carlisle United at home on Tuesday night.

Brentford could also do their play-off hopes some good with a victory over Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday night.

There are some massive games next weekend as well on Saturday, April 13, with Yeovil visiting Stevenage, Sheffield United playing host to promotion rivals Swindon Town, Brentford entertaining Portsmouth, Bournemouth visiting Shrewsbury and Doncaster travelling to Crewe.

And then on April 16, Yeovil are back in action when they travel to Oldham Athletic where Glovers' boss Gary Johnson will coming face-to-face with son Lee who has just taken over as manager at Oldham.

It is going to be a massive ten days for all clubs vying for automatic promotion and the play-off spots.

All teams know that come this point of the season and anything could happen and suddenly games which look ‘winnable on paper’ might be slightly more difficult in reality.
