Football: Hartlepool United 0, Yeovil Town 0YEOVIL Town manager Gary Johnson blamed a lack of killer instinct in the final third of the pitch for his side's inability to clinch a vital win at Hartlepool United this afternoon.

The Glovers had to settle for a point in a rare 0-0 draw at struggling Hartlepool - a result which saw Yeovil drop one place to fifth in the npower League One table.

Yeovil had the majority of the chances and leading scorer Paddy Madden came close to breaking the deadlock, but saw his first-half effort hit the woodwork.

PHOTO: On a positive note, however, it should be remembered that Yeovil have now kept two successive clean sheets with Marek Stech in goal.

Johnson, speaking to the BBC, said he felt his had the chances to have won the game, but lacked the 'killer' pass which would have separated the two sides.

''We lacked that killer ball in the final third,'' he said.

Johnson said that he had set out to win the game and made no apology for disliking goal-less stalemates - although a point at Victoria Park, regardless of where Hartlepool are in the league, is a good point with the northern outpost never being an easy hunting ground.

It was Yeovil's first 0-0 away from home since March 31 last year when they gained that scoreline in their match at AFC Bournemouth.

It could also be said that today's game was the third in succession that Yeovil's top scorer Madden has failed to find the target - but we trust that that statistic is not overly worrying him too much just yet and we feel sure that Johnson has told him that.

Next up for Yeovil is a home game with Crawley Town at Huish Park on Tuesday (March 12) - kick-off 7.45pm
