LEISURE: Evita is a huge success for Yeovil Amateur Operatic Society

THE curtain has come down on the end of another magnificent production by the Yeovil Amateur Operatic Society – possibly even the group’s best show ever?

The society has received rave reviews for its production of Evita which was performed at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil from March 9, 2016, through to last night (Saturday, March 20, 2016).

YAOS brought the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics of Tim Rice to life in a fabulous show.

There were great performances throughout the cast although notable praise should go to Jennifer Holland Brewer who played the lead role of Eva Peron with sublime perfection.

But what next for YAOS?

Once the dust has settled on Evita and the society will start working towards its next production.

The group will be performing Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at the Octagon Theatre from November 1-6, 2016.

And then, this time next year, they will be returning to the wonders of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice with Jesus Christ Superstart from March 28, 2017, through to April 8, 2017.

But, for the moment, everyone concerned with YAOS can savour in the magic and success of Evita. A fantastic production.

The show might be over, but the memories will live on. For those who went and watched the production were given a treat, those who did not – missed out on an amazing show by a super-talented Yeovil group.
