LEISURE: Polly’s pick of the pops for Travellers Got Talent

A SINGING talent show for travellers is being co-ordinated by South Petherton woman Polly Worner and she has gone through a large number of audition clips in order to select her finalists.

Mum-of-two Polly, 36, has been amazed at the response she has received from members of the travelling community since putting out an appeal on social media for acts to take part in her planned Travellers Have Talent contest.

Polly, who comes from a travelling background, said: “It’s going to be fantastic – there are so many talented people within the travelling community that I’m sure it’s going to be a great show.

“I love music and I see this as a great way of putting the travelling community in a good light because they do get some bad press.

“I’ve had loads of audition clips to go through and it’s been really difficult to cut that down to those that I think will be good enough for the actual show.LEISURE: Polly’s pick of the pops for Travellers Got Talent

“There have been so many amazing singers and musicians out there who have entered and it is a shame that they can’t all take part in the show.

“I now know how the judges feel on the X Factor when they have to select their finalists.”

Those to have been selected for the show have been named as Tiffany Smith, Annie Cooper, Lee Hughes, Ebbie Smith, Megin Rose Bond, Nancy Kempster, Jimmy Ayres, Kamala Frankham, Georgina Rose Cannon, Abraham Smith and Frank Smith.

A Travellers Have Talent page on Facebook has attracted a whopping 1,200 members with there being plenty of interest in the competition.

“It’s been phenomenal and the support and interest I’ve had about the competition has been great,” said Polly. “It’s going to be a lot of hard work in getting everything organised, but I know it is going to be so worth it.”

Polly is hoping to confirm the venue for the event later this week and is also looking for any businesses or companies who would like to get involved in sponsorship.

“I’ve got a few meetings lined-up with various organisations to discuss the competition and I’m also looking for sponsorship from anyone interested in getting involved,” she said.
