CRICKET: Good win for Westland Sports 2nds

YEOVIL-BASED Westland Sports 2nds enjoyed a six-wicket win over Wedmore 1sts on Saturday (July 19, 2014) in Division Three of the Somerset League.

Westland won the toss and elected to bowl and Wedmore were restricted to 102-7 from their 45 overs.

Pick of the Westland bowling attack was Matt Dyer with 2-19 and Ben Ford with 2-25. Alex Murphy, Clive Higgins and Ben Hurlock all took one wicket apiece.

Westland then reached the winning post inside 24 overs with the loss of four wickets.

Openers Scott Ewens (27) and Ben Ford (23) gave Westland a good start, while Scott Reeves added 13.

Nick Hallam was there at the end on an undefeated 15.

Westland are currently second in the Division Three table – 19 points behind leaders East Coker 1sts.
