Auditions for Somerset Youth Dance Company

THE Somerset Youth Dance Company created and directed by Helen Laxton and Catherine Sprackman will be  holding auditions on Sunday, July 7, for talented  dancers between the ages of five and 20 to perform in the group’s next full length productions which will take place in March and June 2014.

The Somerset Youth Dance Company was launched in September 2007 to provide local children who share a passion for dance the opportunity to work with  other talented children, to learn new dance styles, to improve their technique, to gain confidence, to make new friends, to have fun , to perform together in high quality  productions and to raise money for local charities.

The group’s 2014 production will contain a variety of different dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, Swing, Rock and Roll, Lyrical, Disco, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Street Dance. This will give the students plenty of opportunity to learn new and varied dance styles and techniques.

Former  Somerset Youth Dance Company students are currently working in The West End, on television, in music videos, in professional  ballet and dance companies, pantomimes and stage shows all around the country. Other former students are now in full time training at VocationalDanceSchools and Colleges.
