May Fair at Yeovil Country Park

THOUSANDS are expected to return to Yeovil Country Park for this year’s May Fair on Bank Holiday Monday.

Organised by South Somerset District Council’s countryside team, the event will include: Puppetry and story telling; art & craft activities; birds of prey and owl display; wood turning; Yeovil & District Model Boat Club; wildlife charities; countryside stalls and activities; and refreshments.

The aim of this free event is to raise the public’s awareness of the countryside through enjoyable activities, demonstrations and displays.May Fair at Yeovil Country Park

There are also opportunities to inform the public about traditional crafts, conservation, wildlife, farming and sustainability.

Katy Menday, countryside manager for South Somerset District Council, said: “We hope to see a packed fayre once again with people enjoying the popular returning wildlife stalls and new activities.

“We’ve got a good variety of stalls for all ages – woodland products, country crafts, face painting and local food and drink included.

“It is all part of the district council’s role to educate people about our environment and improve access to our countryside sites, so this is about creating opportunities for people to learn from our rangers and enjoy a community event.”

The free event will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27, between 10am and 4pm on the grass area outside Goldenstones Leisure Centre.
