SCHOOL NEWS: Graduation service for Pen Mill’s Year Two pupils

THERE were emotional scenes on Friday (July 15, 2016) as a special “graduation” service was held for pupils leaving Pen Mill Infants and Nursery Academy in Yeovil.

The Year Two children – dressed in fantastic gowns and caps – paraded into St Michael’s Church in St Michael’s Avenue, Yeovil, for the service.

Parents and relations looked on with pride while there was also some tears in their eyes as their children looked so smart.

It was a first Pen Mill graduation service for headteacher Zoe Coghlan who took over the headship from Minnie House who retired last summer after an amazing 27 years at the helm of the school.

The Year Two children will go to nearby St Michael’s Academy in Grass Royal in September. Mrs Coghlan is to take over the headship of St Michael's as well in September and will run the school jointly with Pen Mill.

The pupils and staff at Pen Mill will be celebrating the end of another school year on Tuesday (July 19, 2016) with a Party in the Park event from 2pm with all year groups performing songs on the school field. Parents have been invited to go along and watch.
