SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Writing sweatshop winners at Bruton Festival of Arts

BRUTON School students Sophie Lloyd, Lucy Robertson and Eloise Thorne celebrated success at the 2015 Bruton Festival of Arts Writing Sweatshop Competition.

They scooped a host of prizes at the event which was staged at the Girls’ School in Bruton. Between them, they scooped the first three awards with Sophie winning first prize, Lucy winning second prize and Eloise was awarded joint third place.

Head of English at Bruton School for Girls, Jillian Evans, said: “We are delighted for the girls and thank the Bruton Festival of Arts for holding the event which encourages young writers.

“It was heartening to hear the judge, Emma Craigie, praise the girls for the originality of their entries and their attention to detail.”
