RUGBY: Festival of fun at Yeovil RFC

YEOVIL Rugby Club is a hive of activity this weekend for its Rugby 7s Tournament  and 80s Festival.

The fun started last night (Friday, June 12, 2015) with live music and refreshments at the rugby club off of Dorchester Road.

Today (Saturday, June 13, 2015) there is the rugby tournament for men, women and veterans.

Teams are travelling from far and wide to be at the festival such as Cardiff, London, Bath and Bournemouth as well as a hot of local players.

Tonight there will be live music with local band FairPlay and it will have an 80s theme.

Tomorrow (Sunday, June 14, 2015) will see the Colts 7s Competition, finals and plate matches.

There will also be a Tug of War contest, a bronco bull and more rugby.

Festival spokesman Andy Reeves said: “This is the start of a new and exciting era for the newly-named Yeovil Rugby Club.

“It would be great to see as many people as possible down at the club.”

It is hoped that Yeovil’s very own England rugby women’s World Cup winner, Marlie Packer, will be attending the festival at some point.

Funds raised during the day will be donated to the Somerset-based charity British Institute for Brain Injured Children, better known as BIBIC.
