Swimming: Yeovil do well at Weekend 1 of Somerset championships

SWIMMERS from Yeovil District Swimming Club have been recording some great results in recent weeks.

The first weekend of the championship saw the best swimmers in Somerset compete at the Somerset ASA Age Groups and Championships at MillfieldSchool in Street.

After months of hard training the Yeovil District Swim Team arrived to compete against the best.

From the very first event, it was clear to see that all the training had paid off and the swimmers smashed their personal bests and climbed the rankings.

With 80 top eight finishes, 17 bronze, nine silver and four gold medals – it was a fantastic start to the championships.

A Yeovil club spokesman said: “So far, as a result of the great swims at the championships, 29 Yeovil swimmers have gained regional qualifying times and two swimmers gained national qualifying times.

“A fantastic job by all swimmers and coaches of Yeovil District Swimming Club.”
