Skittles: Big wins in Yeovil Sports League

THERE were some big wins in Division One of the Yeovil Sports Skittles League from the round of games played on October 4, 2013.

The best win of the night was the 97-pin away win by Hammers over Ooo Unlucky who are finding life difficult in their first season in the top flight.

Herky Snerkeys kept their unbeaten record with an 86-pin success over luckless Easy Boys and surprise package, FK Rebels, are also unbeaten in third place after an 84-pin away win over Waverley Bros.

Yellow Wagtail B lead the way on ten points after a comfortable win over Westland Ex Apps B. In contrast ODS were given a hard game by Go Banana who went down by just a single pin.

Division Two sees Tripods march on in top spot with a 31-pin away win over Yeovil SCB followed by Nightriders who won away by 12 against Rejects.

The top nomination individual score of the week was hit by D. Abbott, of Combo, who smashed 58 – but Phoenix captain Phil Lloyd saw his team win the game by 24 pins with himself knocking 56.

Nibbs stay fourth with a 12-pin win over Casuals.

Division Three is led by Old Barn Club who inflicted Pacemakers’ first defeat of the season with a 24-pin win.

J. Bonney, of Game On, had the week’s top score for ordinary skittles with 63. His team also had the week’s top score of 390 as they beat Richard Edwards by 38.

RAFA stayed in second spot after a very good away win over Wessex Plus.

With the withdrawal of Knights from Division Four, the league table has been adjusted accordingly.

VAD are still in top spot with a one-pin win over Nondescripts with Barny Army and Marston Boys also on eight points having played one game more.

In this division the stand-in captain of Marston Boys continued his superb start to the season. Dave Moysey hit his third 60-plus of the season with 61 and was well backed up by R. Swaine who hit 60 in the 18-pin away win over RML Sports.

The Gangbangers apir of J. Howell (61) and A. Powell (57) combined to hit 118 as they beat Apprentices by 23.

There was a shock in store for Oakers in Division Five as they lost for the first time away to Split Pins.

The best win in this division was by Rams who won away to Elite by 11 pins.
