Skittles: Wagtail bouncing back in Yeovil Sports League

THERE is already beginning to form a familiar look about Division One with the opening month of the new 2013-14 season in the Yeovil Sports Skittles League having gone.

FK Rebels had the biggest win of the week with a 114-pin thrashing of Croc’s Lot to keep their unbeaten record intact, while Herky Snerkeys are also on six points thanks to a 49-pin win over Bradford Outcasts.

In their efforts to make amends for last season’s disappointing sixth place finish, Yellow Wagtail B have made a great start to the new campaign. This week they won a difficult game at Go Banana by 31 pins to go top of the table.

ODS had an easy 61-pin win over Ooo Unlucky, while Motley Crew gave Hammers a hard game before going down by six pins.

Tripods lead the way in Division Two after a 45-pin win over Combo with Nightriders again making a strong challenge to get into the top division after narrowly missing out last year.

This week the Nightriders beat Cretins by 29 to stay in second place with a game in hand on the next four teams on six points.

Old Barn Club and Pacemakers are leading the way in Division Three on maximum points. The best performance was by Old Barn Club who won away to previous leaders RAFA by 33 pins, while Pacemakers beat Air United by 13.

Division Four sees VAD in top spot but with Knights dropping out of this division this may change at the league’s monthly meeting with a decision to be made about their fixtures. Par Eight, Barny Army and Marston Boys are all on six points.

The highest individual score of the week was hit by C. Nunn. His 62 for RML Sports enabled his team to win by 23 away to Kinnells.

Flung Together have made a great start in Division Five continuing this week with a 12-pin win over Split Pins. New team Oakers are also unbeaten in second place.

Top man in this division was Rams’ captain John Penny who hit 57 to lead his team to a three-pin win over Uncle Albert’s Disciples.
