THE Under-15 boys rugby team at Stanchester Academy in Stoke-sub-Hamdon has had a run of success in the NatWest Schools Cup.

The team (pictured above) beat Gryphon School 34pts-7 in the First Round of the competition and then followed that with a 24pts-12 win over Woodroffe School in the Second Round.

The talented team now progress to the Third Round of the National Schools Cup where they will face Sherborne School at Martock Rugby Club next Wednesday (October 16, 2013) in a 4pm kick-off.Rugby: Stanchester Under-15s march on in NatWest Schools Cup

Teams playing in the NatWest Schools Cup progress through knockout Area Rounds with the eight area winners then progressing via knockout through Quarter Finals and Semi Finals with the Final being played at the home of Rugby Union - Twickenham.

This success further supports the strong performance in rugby at Stanchester Academy, recently displayed by Elliot Berryman from Stoke-Sub-Hamdon and Carl Morgan from Martock, who were two of only 40 players who were invited to a two-day selection process as part of Bath Rugby’s Academy Player Pathway. Both players were later selected as part of a final 30 man squad.

Stanchester PE teacher, Adrian Reynolds, said: "This is an amazing achievement for our lads and their hard work and commitment really encompasses what we strive for at Stanchester."
