Athletics: Startrack Camp at Yeovil Recreation Centre

THERE will be running, jumping and throwing when the ever-popular Startrack Athletics Camp is held over the October half-term holiday at the Yeovil Recreation Centre.

Startrack is organised by South Somerset District Council and Yeovil Olympiads Athletics Club and offers young people aged between eight and 14 the opportunity to learn the basic skills of athletics in a competitive but inclusive environment.

Aviva Startrack is UK Athletics flagship grassroots programme, and aims to give young people real athletics experiences in schemes across the country.

South Somerset District Council's senior sport and healthy lifestyles officer, Jake Hannis, said: "The Startrack Athletics Camp provides an ideal opportunity for budding young sports stars to learn the basics and then keep improving until they reach their full potential.

“The camp will also give young people the chance to try out some of the best sporting facilities in Somerset.”

The council's Cllr Sylvia Seal added: "Activities such as Startrack channel the energy and enthusiasm of young people in a structured and positive environment. Yeovil Recreation Centre promises to buzzing during this October half-term.”
