Sailing: Chris has got the wind in his sails - thanks to Nuffield

SUTTON Bingham Sailing Club member Chris Jones has secured the support of Nuffield Health, Fitness & Wellbeing in Yeovil in his bid for success at the 2014 National, European and World Championships.

Chris sails in the Laser Radial sailboat class - a physically demanding single-handed dinghy class which is raced at youth, Olympic and Masters level.

He competes in the Masters category, which is the term for the 45-54 year age group and aims for a personal best performance at the World Championships to be held at Hyeres in France next September.Sailing: Chris has got the wind in his sails - thanks to Nuffield

He also plans to compete in the masters European Championships in Cork, Ireland.

Now 52, Chris has been sailing competitively since he was 11 years old, with past success in Optimist, Topper, Laser II, 470 and International Europe dinghy classes.

More recently he has won the Masters age category at the Masters National Championships four times since he took up Laser Masters racing in 2007.

Chris said that he approached Nuffield Health because “they offer the best mix of facilities backed up with staff trained to a high level in personal fitness training and nutrition.”

Chris will be making use of the aerobic and resistance equipment, exercise classes, including Body Pump and cycling and the 20 metre swimming, which provide specific training for his sport.
