New appeal after Ilminster robbery

DETECTIVES investigating a robbery in South Somerset are releasing new information about the incident in a fresh bid to locate witnesses who might have information which could help.

At 11.30am last Monday (September 23) a security guard attending a convenience store in Station Road, Ilminster, was robbed. Two suspects left the scene in a white new-style Ford Fiesta, which was abandoned shortly afterwards about half a mile south of Ilminster in the middle of the B3168 near to Dillington House. The suspects are then then thought to have got into a second vehicle.New appeal after Ilminster robbery

Enquiries have established that the Ford Fiesta was stolen from Exford, on Exmoor, and had its number plates and branding removed.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the Ford Fiesta after it was stolen on Tuesday, September 17, and until it was recovered by police after the robbery. Officers would also like to speak to the owner of a green VW Polo which was driving along a private road on the Dillington Estate linking Whitelackington and Ashwell on the morning of the robbery.

Investigating the incident, DC Andy Tearle said: "This robbery only took a few seconds to commit but the impact this will have on the courier, shop staff and witnesses will stay with them for much longer.

"We are investigating the robbery and our enquiries are progressing well but we need to speak to anyone who might have any information. If you can help, please contact me."

Anyone who saw the robbery, either of the vehicles or was in the area and saw something suspicious should contact police on 101.
