Skittles: Hammers brought down to earth in Yeovil Sports League

DIVISION One reigning champions Hammers were brought down to earth on Friday, September 13, when they visited the Royal Marine and fell to a shock two-pin defeat by FK Rebels.

The FK Rebels became one of five teams on maximum points in Division One after two games.

Westland Ex Apps B were one of those after they beat Waverley Bros by one pin. Yellow Wagtail B showed no mercy for promoted Ooo Unlucky who were thrashed by 98 pins.

ODS and Nightcrawlers also both won for the second time.

Division Two saw Mixstars, Combo and Cretins on four points with Mixstars beating Occasionals by 77.

Combo and Cretins both had close away wins over Casuals and Has Beens respectively.

Division Three shows Pacemakers, RAFA and Old Barn Club as the only three on four points as they all had home wins this week.

Air United captain Jim Lloyd hit 56 to lead his team to a surprise three-pin away win over Wessex Plus.

Four teams are on maximum points in Division Four including last season’s Division Five winners and runners-up, Misfits and Marston Boys, who both won by 13 pins this week.

VAD had the week’s top score of 393 to win by 39 away to Kinnells. Huish Sports complete the quartet following their three-pin win over Barny Army.

Individual star of the week was undoubtedly Nick Williams, of Flung Together. He hit a magnificent 72 as his team recorded a 47-pin win over Missing Lynx to share the lead with Somerset Sports and Elite who both won for the second time in Division Five.
