Gas barbecue problem dealt with by firefighters

FIREFIGHTERS had to deal with an incident at a home on the outskirts of Yeovil this evening (Saturday, July 13) involving a gas barbecue. One fire engine was mobilised at just after 6pm to a property in Stoford where officers found a 6kg cylinder involved in a fire. A Fire Service spokesman said: “The crew closed the cylinder valve and cooled the cylinder using a monitor.”

TWO fire engines were called out this afternoon (Saturday, July 13) following reports of a fire on a grass verge on the A303 near Ilchester. The alarm was raised at just after 1pm and on arrival firefighters found an area of grass around 20m x 10m alight. A Fire Service spokesman said: “Crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.”
