COLLEGE NEWS: Students look to the sky for career advice

A GROUP of students who are studying Public Services and Sport Science at Bridgwater and Taunton College were given first-hand experience of working on an airbase by visiting RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

Each of the students had previously expressed an interest in joining the RAF as officers.  They met serving RAF officers and were given the opportunity to ask them questions about their various job roles.

Student Keelan Gunningham is very interested in the role of a Logistics Officer and found the tour of the airbase extremely interesting. COLLEGE NEWS: Students look to the sky for career advice

Squadron Leader, Jacqueline Millard Smith, said: “Days like these offer an exceptional experience for students, and we hope to be able to offer more opportunities like it in the future.”

Ruth Burrows, lecturer in sport and public services at Bridgwater and Taunton College, added: “Our students were very lucky to have been invited to RAF Brize Norton.  It was a unique insight into the working life of officers in the RAF.

“We had a fascinating day which was so well organised; the students came back buzzing and full of enthusiasm.”
