SCHOOL NEWS: Imaginations run wild thanks to Roald Dahl

CHILDREN at Neroche Primary School near Ilminster enjoyed a splendiferous day celebrating all things Roald Dahl - celebrating a 100 marvellous years since the author’s birth.

Neroche’s School Council raised an impressive £168 during the day to support the Roald Dahl seriously ill children’s charity.SCHOOL NEWS: Imaginations run wild thanks to Roald Dahl

Connel Boyle, headteacher of Neroche School based at Broadway, said: “From Esio-Trot to Willy Wonka the children enjoyed a really whipple-scrumptious day.

“My thanks go to all of our parents for the costume efforts that made the day truly memorable.”

Roald Dahl died in 1990 at the age of 74, but had he lived he would have been 100 on September 13, 2016.

He is best known for his children’s books including The Witches, George’s Marvellous Medicine, Matilda, The BFG, Fantastic Mr Fox Fox, Danny the Champion of the World, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach and The Twits.

Dahl also wrote a number of screenplays for films including the James Bond movie You Only Live Twice and the ever-popular musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
