FOOTBALL: Chard Town suffer first defeat of season

CHARD Town fell to their first defeat of the 2016-17 season when they went down 3-1 at Warminster Town in Division One of the Toolstation Western League.

After an encouraging 1-1 draw at Radstock the previous weekend there was to be no repeat performance yesterday (Saturday, August 13, 2016) at Warminster.

The only goal for the Robins came on 40 minutes when Patrick Golden netted a penalty which saw the score move to 2-1 to Warminster.

But Warminster regained their two-goal lead and ran out 3-1 winners come the final whistle with their goals scored by Eben Mortimer-Taylor, Louise Sparey and Sam Clift.

Chard return to action next Saturday (August 20, 2016) when they play host to Westbury United in the league in what will be their first home game of the season at Zembard Lane. Kick-off is at 3pm.
