COLLEGE SPORT: Adam Harris excelling in golf

YEOVIL College student Adam Harris came third in the Men’s Singles Golf competition at the Association of Colleges National Championships in Newcastle – one of the largest annual sporting events in England.

Adam, 16, from Yeovil, studies BTEC Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science at Yeovil College and took part in the National Colleges Finals Men’s Golf within the Championship.

He recently won a gold position in Men’s Golf at the South West championships last November and has again succeeded by being placed in the sectionals of the National Championship in Newcastle in April 2016.COLLEGE SPORT: Adam Harris excelling in golf

Adam said: “I was over the moon when I first heard I came third,it was a really good experience and I have gained more confidence to compete in the championship level.”

Adam benefitted from the Yeovil College Sports Scholarship fund which supported his endeavours in winning the gold medal at the South West Regional competition in November which enabled him to compete at the National finals.

He has impressed lecturers so far with his passion for sport as well as his enthusiasm within his study programme, by winning a bronze medal for the National Championships he has shown he’s a very talented golfer.

Matt Hann, curriculum area manager for sport at Yeovil College, said: “We are proud to be able to support both Adam and John through the Yeovil College Sports Scholarship fund to help them both to achieve their full potential on a national scale.

“The Yeovil College Sports Academy has helped many elite sports performers to achieve on a regional and national scale for many years, some of whom going onto becoming sports professionals. Adam and John have both done exceptionally well.”

Adam is now working towards completing his Level 3 course and taking part in upcoming competitions in for Men’s Golf.
