RUGBY: Rio comes to Yeovil Rugby Club for summer tournament

YEOVIL Rugby Club has been delighted after being given national recognition for its forthcoming Rugby Sevens tournament.

The tournament will be held at Yeovil Rugby Club in Dorchester   Road from June 17-19, 2016, and it has just been selected to be a regional qualifier for the RFU National 7s Series with a regional and national finals.

The winning team – from the serious competition - in the Yeovil tournament will qualify for the South West regional finals in July.

Organisers hope that the attraction of this now being a recognised tournament will encourage more teams to enter.

As well as the serious competition, there will also be tournaments for veterans, women and colts.

The weekend will have a Rio theme to tie in with the 2016 Olympics and there will be a beach bar, free camping, loads of refreshments and live music.

Andy Reeves, who is helping to organise the event, said: “The tournament went really well last year and we hope to make it even bigger and better in 2016.”
