SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Art students draw on Barcelona experience

YEAR Ten GCSE art students from Westfield Academy in Yeovil enjoyed five days in Barcelona visiting galleries and making the most of every sketching opportunity!

There were visits to see the artwork of Salvador Dali, Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso as well as taking in the stunning architecture of Antonio Gaudi at the Parc Guell and the Sagrada Familia.

Students sketched in the very warm sunshine at Girona, Tossa de Mar and Montjuic Parc and produced some great drawing and painting.

There was also plenty of fun to be had at the Flamenco Evening and when watching the street performers on Las Ramblas.

Tamsin Gilham, head of art at Westfield Academy, said: “It was a pleasure to accompany these lovely students on such a wonderful trip!”
