SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Bruton headteachers in charity abseil

TWO Bruton headteachers had their heads - literally - in the clouds last week when they completed a charity abseil for the SpringBoard Bursary Foundation.

Taking time out of the Boarding Schools’ Association annual conference in London, Nicky Botterill, headmistress at Bruton School for Girls, together with Irfan Latif, headmaster at Sexey’s School, abseiled down the side of the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel in London.SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Bruton headteachers in charity abseil

More than 20 other headteachers across the country also attempted the abseil to raise funds for SpringBoard – a foundation charity which transforms the lives of disadvantaged children through full bursaries at state and independent boarding schools .

Irfan Latif said: “SpringBoard opens up the opportunity of a boarding school education to children whose backgrounds or family circumstances mean it wouldn’t normally be an option.

“Through generous donations and fundraising, we hope that even more children can be ‘SpringBoarded’ into what could be a life-changing path.”

Nicky Botterill added: “If we were able to assist just one more young person on the path to better career and life choices, then abseiling down eight floors of a London hotel will have been well worth it!”

The abseil event has so far raised £405 but anyone or any business can support it or donate by visiting: https://mydonate.bt.com/events/bsaabseil2015/218563 .
