ELECTIONS: Marcus Fysh wants to be fresh voice for Somerset

NEW Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh has said it will be a huge honour to represent the constituency at Westminster.

Mr Fysh overhauled a Liberal Democrat majority of 13,036 gained by previous MP David Laws at the last election of 2010 to win by 5,313 – a swing of nearly 19,000.

The Conservative candidate, who in recent years has been serving in local government, paid tribute to his predecessor in his victory speech shortly after 6am this morning (Friday, May 8, 2015) at the Westland leisure complex in Yeovil.ELECTIONS: Marcus Fysh wants to be fresh voice for Somerset

The new Yeovil MP added: “I am proud to be a fresh voice that Somerset needs.”

He said he wanted to be a good local MP – be thoughtful and “listen and learn” from the people of Yeovil.

“I look forward to working with you,” he said.
