ELECTIONS: Proud Yeovilian joins Yeovil Town Council

LONG-TIME Yeovil Town fan Andy Pugsley won his own personal big match last night when he was voted in as a new member of Yeovil Town Council.

The council had been left one councillor short in the South Ward following the local elections early this month and so the vacancy needed to be filled by co-option in which councillors were allowed to vote in somebody themselves.

Martin Bailey, Andrew Pugsley and Robert Wood all put themselves forward for the position, but it was 54-year-old Mr Pugsley who triumphed in a vote.ELECTIONS: Proud Yeovilian joins Yeovil Town Council

Newly-elected Cllr Pugsley said: “I am proud to be a Yeovilian and I would like to give back some of my time to the town by representing the residents of the Yeovil South Ward.”

Cllr Pugsley – who was educated at Milford School, Buckler’s Mead and Yeovil College - has worked at Westlands since 1977 and has enjoyed all the highs and lows of being a Glovers supporter over the years.

The Mayor, Cllr Mike Lock, welcomed him to the council following the vote at last night’s (Tuesday, May 26, 2015) meeting of Yeovil Town Council.
