The school held Victorian-style lessons on Friday (May 1, 2015) and dressed in period costume for the day.

The children cooked Victorian recipes and held a birthday party on the school field accompanied by music from Bucklers Mead Academy band.

During the term the children visited a Victorian School and researched the history to when Pen Mill School was opened.

The Pen Mill Elementary School, as it was originally called, was built in St Michael’s Avenue and opened in 1895.

It was a boarding school and was built to accommodate an increasing population on the eastern side of Yeovil. It had accommodation for 270 children with boys and girls taught in separate classes.
