SOMERSET NEWS: Woman injured after gas cylinder explosion

A WOMAN was taken to hospital yesterday (Monday, May 4, 2015) with a leg injury following an explosion at a caravan and camping park.

The alarm was raised at just before 10am to an incident at the Northam Farm Caravan and Camping Park at Brean, near Burnham-on-Sea.

Two fire engines from Burnham went to the park after getting reports of an explosion involving a gas cylinder.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered that a portable cooker had exploded whilst in use causing an injury to a lady’s leg. The lady was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

“No other damage was caused by the explosion as the cooker had been located outside at the time and it was believed the gas cylinder had been incorrectly fitted into the cooker which is what caused the incident.”
