SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: On the run with Holyrood Academy

PUPILS from Holyrood Academy’s feeder primary schools took part in an inter-area cross country event at RNAS Merryfield at Ilton.

Organisers posed a challenging course for runners with long grass, ruts and a wooded section.

Holyrood’s representative squad was based on the results from its local cross country races held on the Academy’s Chard site to mean pupils from Avishayes, Chard, Combe, Manor Court, Redstart and Tatworth joined forces to run as one team.

Both girls and boys had to compete over difficult terrain and run for 1.6-miles. All of the runners completed the course and each was awarded with a medal.

The best girl was Millie Downes, from Tatworth School, who finished 24th out of 68 runners.

The best boy was Barnaby Willis, also from Tatworth School, who finished 40th out of 73 runners.

The children were cheered on by a big crowd of supporting parents and staff; well done to all runners!

School sports co-ordinator, Jason Hedaux was very proud of their performances and how well they all adapted to a new environment.
