ELECTIONS: Prime Minister visits Yeovil constituency

PRIME Minister David Cameron was in the Yeovil constituency today (Sunday, April 26, 2015) flying the flag for the Conservatives.

The Tory Party leader was joined by supporters in the village of Norton-sub-Hamdon – the home of former Liberal Democrat leader and Yeovil MP Paddy Ashdown – to talk about his future plans for the economy.

He was joined by the Conservative candidate for Yeovil, Marcus Fysh, who will be looking to win the seat at the General Election on Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Mr Fysh will be vying for the seat with current Yeovil MP David Laws, of the Liberal Democrats, who is looking to retain it for a fourth term having initially won it back in 2001.

Also standing in the Yeovil constituency will be Sheena King for Labour; Emily McIvor for the Green Party and Simon Smedley for the UK Independence Party.ELECTIONS: Prime Minister visits Yeovil constituency

The duo are standing for the Conservatives in the Brympton ward of South Somerset District Council.

Two seats are available in the Brympton ward and Ms Lindsay and Mr Williams will face competition from LibDem candidates Emma Louise Dunn and Peter Seib, and Labour candidate Glen James Graham.

Today’s visit of the Prime Minister is the latest in a number of high-profile Conservatives visiting the Yeovil area following on from the likes of London Mayor Boris Johnson, Home Secretary Theresa May and Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne.
