It could be the trip of a lifetime for talented Shannon if selected to represent her country.

A Yeovil Bowls Club spokesman said: “Everyone would like to wish Shannon good luck.”

Her nomination for the selection process has been one of the main highlights of a busy start to 2015 for members of the Yeovil Junior Bowls Club.

The beginning of the year saw the county round of the annual skills tests at Taunton Deane Indoor Bowls Club.

The skills tests are known as the School of Excellence which is a national competition run by the England Bowls Youth Development Scheme for Under-15s and Under-18s.

Congratulations go to Charmayne Hooper who finished second in the Under 15s and Emily Corner who finished second in the Under-18s. Both girls are now through to the regional finals on April 19.

Also in January, a number of Yeovil Juniors represented Somerset Under 25s in a match against Devon Under 25s.

Well done to Emily Corner, who received her Somerset Colts badge, Charmayne and Elishia Hooper, Jack Goodland and Shannon Crouch who all contributed towards a resounding win for Somerset 81–63.BOWLS: Shannon could be on her way to Samoa

On February 8, two Yeovil Juniors, Emily Corner and Oliver Kemp, were once again at Taunton Deane to participate in the regional round of the National Under-15 Singles. This round consists of four bowlers playing against each other in a round robin event with the bowler with the most points progressing to the National Finals at Spalding Indoor Bowls Club on March 7, 2015. Once again congratulations go to Emily who is having a magnificent season.

Nine bowlers travelled to Poole on February 22, 2015, to play against Dolphin Indoor Bowls Club in the return fixture for a match that was played at the beginning of last year at Yeovil.

It is hoped that this is going to be an annual fixture competing for a trophy that was donated and won by Dolphin in the inaugural meeting last year.

Dolphin proved too strong again running out easy winners, but it allowed some of Yeovil’s more junior bowlers to experience their first match situation.
