ELECTIONS: Conservative duo look to win in Brympton

THE Conservatives have named Josh Williams and Sarah Lindsay as their two candidates to stand in this year’s forthcoming South Somerset District Council election in the Brympton ward of Yeovil.

Ms Lindsay has lived locally in the Brympton area for more than years and most recently had been a member of the parish council.

“I have in the past been quite vocal on speed in the area especially as there are no traffic calming measures around our local primary school and we’ve got problems of people parking on junctions,” she said.

Ms Lindsay, a former Preston School student, has described herself as a “down-to-earth” self-employed hairdresser.ELECTIONS: Conservative duo look to win in Brympton

“I would like to think I am in touch with people and open and easy to talk to,” she added. “I’ve proven to be quite pro-active on many concerns in the past.”

The Conservatives know that they will have to wrestle the Brympton initiative away from rivals Liberal Democrats who currently hold the two seats available at SSDC.

Mr Williams lives on the Abbey Manor estate and was the Tories’ candidate for Brympton in the 2013 election for Somerset County Council in which he lost out to LibDem candidate Sam Crabb.

“I campaigned for double yellow lines to be implemented along Stourton Way to improve safety on match days at Yeovil Town FC and I’m very much an advocate for traffic calming measures in the Brympton area and will continue to be very vocal on this issue,” he said.

Mr Williams, who works in the housing department at Mendip District Council, has raised money for local charities in the past through running marathons including the London Marathon in 2013 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

The district council elections take place on May 7, 2015 – the same day as the General Election.
