YEOVIL NEWS: Family of Mike Slade ask people to stay calm

THE family of Mike Slade, who remains in a critical condition in hospital after being found lying in Yeovil town centre with serious head injuries at the weekend, have asked for people to remain calm and not go out looking for revenge.

Although police are appealing for information to try and found out what actually happened, it would appear as if Mr Slade may have been the victim of a vicious assault in the early hours of Sunday (February 1, 2015).

Mr Slade was discovered by members of the public at about 3am in an alleyway in West Hendford between the Tesco car park and the Manor Hotel and he is currently in an induced coma at SouthmeadHospital in Bristol following an operation.

His family have been overwhelmed by the support they have received from friends of Mr Slade and general well-wishers - all hoping he makes a full and speedy recovery.

But some friends of Mr Slade are angry at what has happened and have spoken of their desire to find his attackers and deal out their own form of punishment.

Mr Slade's brother and sister-in-law Rob and Sarah have told the Yeovil Press that they hope people can remain calm.YEOVIL NEWS: Family of Mike Slade ask people to stay calm

"We understand that feelings are running high, but we honestly don't want anyone going out looking for revenge," they said.

The family told the Yeovil Press tonight (Monday, February 2, 2015) that there had not been any significant change to Mr Slade’s condition.

“He is still being kept in a medically-induced coma and is comfortable, although still critical,” they said.

“Doctors are assessing things on a regular basis gauge when they would be able to try to bring Mike round.”

The family have been overwhelmed by the support they have received including dozens of messages having been placed on social media wishing Mr Slade a full and speedy recovery.

“It really means a lot,” said Rob and Sarah.

If you have any information about the incident in the early hours of Sunday (February 1, 2015), please call Yeovil CID via the 24-hour Enquiry Centre on 101 and quote log number 191 of 1 Feb.
