CLUBS AND SOCIETIES: Crewkerne League of Friends backs Horseshoes and Handprints

THE League of Friends of Crewkerne Hospital has handed over a £2,000 cheque to local charity Horseshoes and Handprints.

The charity offers an equine-based therapy service offering fun-based sessions to special needs children, adults and their families – involving grooming, tacking up and decorating the horses, sensory work, and riding.

Desi Fradgley, of Horseshoes and Handprints, which is based near Ilminster, said: “We are extremely grateful to the League of Friends of Crewkerne Hospital for their support which allows families from Crewkerne to bring their children to us.

“We help all members of the family because living with a child with special needs can affect them all in different ways.”

League of Friends chairman Ron Bond said: “We have been delighted to support Horseshoes and Handprints.

“We were approached by the charity to see if we could provide financial support to enable a child from Crewkerne to receive therapy at their facility.

“The child’s mother has told me that this has made a tremendous difference to the lives of all the family which was wonderful to hear.”

Ron added: “This donation was made possible through the generosity of Crewkerne residents who give their support.”
