Rugby: Ivel 2nds have to take it on the chin

IVEL Barbarians chairman Roy Murgatroyd has said the club will have to “take it on the chin” after receiving a five-point penalty for the club’s 2ndXV.

The Ivel 2nds saw their Tribute Somerset Two South fixture at Wiveliscombe cancelled last week.Rugby: Ivel 2nds have to take it on the chin

The league has ruled however that while Wiveliscombe were ready to kick-off the game, Ivel were not and therefore the game was awarded to the home side and the Barbarians were penalised five points.

Mr Murgatroyd, speaking on the club’s Facebook page, said: “We as a club can appeal against the decision at a cost of £50.

“In this case I have decided not to appeal as the facts stated are clear cut and the league had not no option under those circumstances other than to award the game to Wivvy.

“We just have to take it on the chin and learn from it.”

The Ivel 2nds are at home at their Dorchester Road headquarters in Yeovil this afternoon (Saturday, October 12, 2013) when they play host to Bridgwater & Albion 3rds in the Tribute Somerset Two South.
