SCHOOL NEWS: Students hit the right note even when sitting down

TALENTED students at Buckler’s Mead Academy in Yeovil have designed outstanding new piano stool covers.

The music room now has repaired and improved piano stools with the help of Sue Mead’s Year Ten GCSE design and technology textiles class.

Mrs Mead's Year 10 class took the challenge wholeheartedly with exceptional results.  As part of their preparation for their practical assessment in Year 11 the students each took responsibility for designing and creating a unique piano stool cover.

Jake Bishop, who designed a music notes themed cover, said: “This has been great fun, creating and making something that not only allows us to practice our skills but provides something back to the academy is really rewarding.”

Head of music at Buckler’s Mead, Andy Smith, added: “The students were amazing and the work they have produced is outstanding. It has really brightened up the Music room.”
