YEOVIL COLLEGE NEWS: Bullet proof vest for students

YEOVIL College has received what could be classed as one of the more unusual donations it has ever been presented with – a bullet proof vest!

Safeguard has presented the vest to the college to help provide a hands-on experience for students in the Uniformed Public Services Study Programme and can be used for a variety of educational activities.

Yeovil College is committed to providing all learners with high quality learning experience, and is determined to find ways of improving our resources and courses.

By providing the college with this sample of protective clothing students will be using later in their possible police career, tutors can continually improve the quality of courses and provide the best learning experiences possible.

Tom Bowman, communications manager at SafeGuard, said “We have made this donation of a bullet proof vest to Yeovil College in the hope that it will bring a new dimension of learning to the classroom.

“We feel that letting the students use and wear the bullet proof vest during lessons and role plays will make for a more realistic feel to the lesson and help them transition easier when working with new equipment in their future roles in public services.”YEOVIL COLLEGE NEWS: Bullet proof vest for students

Matt Hann, curriculum area manager for sport, said: “The Yeovil College Uniformed Public Services department is very grateful to Safeguard Armour for the donation of the bullet proof vest.

“This equipment will help to bring learning to life in the classroom and its use will be reflective of the workplace environment for the aspirational careers that our students have.

“The Yeovil College student career destinations include the British Army, Police, Fire and Rescue and Paramedics as well as further study at universities. This equipment will offer our learners a good point of reference as we help to prepare them for their future.

“We appreciate our donation from SafeGuard of a bullet proof vest and look forward to working with them in future endeavours.”
