CHILDREN IN NEED 2015: Victory for Holyrood's Sixth Form

THE Holyrood Academy’s Sixth Form football team in Chard defeated a Staff XI on Friday (November 13, 2015) in a charity game raising money for the Children in Need appeal.

A large crowd of students and staff gathered for the match and the Sixth Form’s younger years and better fitness shone through as they ran out 5-2 winners.

Brad Minchinton gave the Sixth Form an early lead, but the staff equalised through Richard Barker.

Minchinton then put the Sixth Form back in front and then Louis Major netted to make it 3-1.

The staff hit back in the second-half and reduced the deficit when skipper James Gilbert converted a corner.

But the Sixth Form regained their two-goal advantage when Emil Szydetko scored a 25-yard cracker and Joe Hinmers made it 5-2 in the closing stages.

Sixth Form skipper Willis Lawrence said: “I would like to thank the staff for agreeing to play and helping us raise funds for Children in Need.”

Staff captain James Gilbert added: “We congratulate the students on their win – it was thoroughly deserved.

“We will learn the lessons and come back stronger next year!”
