SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Caddick brothers play for Somerset Vikings

BROTHERS Doug and Connor Caddick, who are both members of Holyrood Academy’s Sixth Form in Chard, are on a mission to make an impact in the world of rugby.

They now both play in the squad for the Somerset Vikings in the Rugby League discipline of the sport and are already making a name for themselves!

The brothers discovered their early passion for the sport when, as young children, they played rugby union for Chard RFC. Doug has also played for Ivel Barbarians in Yeovil in the past and both boys have played at district and county level and for Irish Exiles South West teams.

Doug was invited to try out for the Vikings at the start of the season and is now sponsored by West Country Waterjet of Chard.

Connor, also recently invited to join, had his first game for the Vikings in June against Exeter Centurions in the inaugural Trans-Blackdown Challenge Cup where Somerset Vikings won 48pts-28.

The Vikings currently play in the West of England Premier League with matches against Bristol Sonics, Swindon St George, Cheltenham Phoenix and Bath & Wiltshire Romans, as well as friendly fixtures and 9s tournaments with clubs from Devon, Wiltshire, Gloucester and beyond.
