SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Preston students to support Nepal appeal

STUDENTS at Preston School in Yeovil will be holding a non-uniform day on Friday (May 8, 2015) to help raise money for the Nepal Earthquake Appeal.

They will be raising the funds via the local Piers Simon Appeal and School in a Bag initiative which was set up in memory of former Preston student Piers Simon who was killed in the Asian tsunami of Boxing Day 2004.

Piers’ brother Luke Simon, who founded the PSA, has been overwhelmed at the support shown for their fundraising for Nepal following the devastating earthquake on April 25, 2015, which has left thousands killed and many more injured and homeless.SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Preston students to support Nepal appeal

The PSA and School in a Bag have close links with Nepal and in the past have delivered nearly 4,000 schoolbags to children in the Helambu area of the country which was hit by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.

“We would like to thank everyone for their continued support and it is great that Preston School is holding this non-uniform day to help raise funds,” said Luke.

A JustGiving webpage set up by the Piers Simon Appeal specifically for the Nepal Earthquake Appeal has so far amassed £4,320 online. But funds gained by the charity elsewhere have seen that total grow to more than £5,000.
