ELECTIONS: Health Secretary visits Yeovil

HEALTH Secretary Jeremy Hunt was in Yeovil today (Wednesday, April 1, 2015) to support the Conservative’s local candidate Marcus Fysh.

Mr Fysh, who will be hoping to win the Yeovil constituency seat for the Tories at the General Election on Thursday, May 7, 2015, said it was great to show Mr Hunt the “fantastic care provided by local charity St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice.”

“The staff there do tremendous work and I thank them for it,” he said. “We discussed how crucial it is that we stick our long term plan that is creating jobs and a healthier economy and public finances, so that we can sustain increased investment in more doctors, nurses and treatments in the next Parliament just like we have in the last.

“This is not some abstract concept, it is crucial for our families' health.”ELECTIONS: Health Secretary visits Yeovil

Mr Fysh added: “Britain was on the brink before and Alex Salmond and Ed Miliband mustn't be allowed to destroy the economic foundations of our families' future now.”

The Conservative candidate said Mr Hunt was “particularly pleased” to hear how Somerset County Council, Yeovil District Hospital and the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group had secured national vanguard status for its Symphony project which is integrating adult social and health care services in order to get people the treatments they need and deserve in – or as close – to their own home for as long as possible.

“I am pleased to be a strong supporter of this, as we have to be smart about delivery of health care as well as making sure we have the money,” said Mr Fysh.

Also set to stand in the Yeovil constituency in the General Election on Thursday, May 7, 2015, are David Laws (Liberal Democrats), Sheena King (Labour), Emily McIvor (Green Party) and Simon Smedly (UK Independence Party).
