CLUBS AND SOCIETIES: Ilminster Scouts celebrate 100 years

THE 1st Ilminster Scouts are celebrating their 100-year birthday this year and are hoping it will be “blooming” marvellous.

To kick-start the celebrations the Scouts planted bulbs at the Ilminster Recreation Ground on Saturday (February 7, 2015).

The Scouts were joined by Beavers, Cubs and their leaders to plant the bulbs in the shape of the Scout sign of the Fleur de Lys.

Now they will be keeping a watchful eye on their gardening skills to see the bulbs flower and create a little piece of Scouting horticulture at the recreation ground.

They will be hosting other events during the year to commemorate the group’s centenary.
