CARNIVAL: The cavalcade arrives in Ilminster

CARNIVAL: The calvalcade arrives in Ilminster

THOUSANDS of people are expected to throng the streets of Ilminster tonight (Saturday, October 3, 2015) for the annual Carnival.

Carnivalites and their magnificent floats and entries will assemble at Bay Hill in readiness for the 7.15pm procession start.

The cavalcade will make its way down East Street into the Market Square and then up through Silver Street before moving onto the main road through Ilminster and down Station Road past the Shrubbery Hotel before reaching the dispersal area from the roundabout by the Texaco garage out towards Hort Bridge.

Motorists should be wary of the fact that the Bay Hill Road will be closed from 2.30pm, while other roads on the Carnival route will be closed to traffic from 7pm.

Organisers are keeping their fingers-crossed for good weather and hoping that the crowds will dig deep and make a donation to show their appreciation for the efforts made by Carnivalites.

Once again the big Ilminster clubs of Harlequin CC and Gemini CC will be taking centre stage – but there will much more besides for the crowds to enjoy.
