BUSINESS: Old Cinema becomes furniture store for St Margaret's Hospice

THE well-known Old Cinema site in Yeovil has undergone a makeover to become the new home store for the St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice charity.

The 36th shop in the charity’s chain will stock furniture, art, bed linen, and books. St Margaret’s retail team is keen to enhance the “shopping experience” and the building – which will retain many of its original features – will include a café.

The manager, Sheana Williams, said: “We are really excited about acquiring this lovely old cinema as the spacious interior provides the perfect backdrop to our stock and the scope to offer customers an interesting and comprehensive range, both pre-owned and new.BUSINESS: Old Cinema becomes furniture store for St Margaret's Hospice

“We aim to provide customers with the very best shopping experience from a leisurely browse through the different departments in this wonderful old building to sampling home produced refreshments in the café on the first floor.”

St Margaret’s is asking for the local community to donate any unwanted goods – especially good quality furniture – to help stock its new store.

Charity organisers are also on the lookout for volunteers and anyone who feels they can offer a few hours a week is asked to contact Sheana on 01935-413413.

The store was given a grand opening last Tuesday (August 18, 2015).

The Old Cinema had previously been used as a furniture store before St Margaret's Hospice took on the building.
