BUSINESS: Helping hand for firms in Wincanton, Castle Cary and Bruton

A BUSINESS grant is being made available by South Somerset District Council to help businesses in the Wincanton, Castle Cary and Bruton areas.

The Retail Support Initiative provides funds to make improvements which visually enhance the heart of the town or village.

A Retail Support Initiative grant was recently obtained by Alex Appleton Jewellers to help the business relocate to the High Street in Wincanton. The premises that the business has moved in to had been left empty and neglected for many years. The grant obtained has helped give the shop front a much needed face lift.

Chairman of the council’s Area East committee, Cllr Nick Weeks, said: “The Retail Support Initiative grant will enable businesses to get back onto the High Street and boost the local economy.BUSINESS: Helping hand for firms in Wincanton, Castle Cary and Bruton

“We have already seen examples of where the grant has helped and we expect to hear from many more businesses interested in the grant.

“These premises have a particularly attractive frontage and the works will significantly improve the appearance whilst respecting the historic features.”

To obtain details of the Retail Support Initiative grant, contact Terena Isaacs, Community Support Assistant at South Somerset District Council on 01935-462248 or visit the Churchfields Office in Wincanton.
